Your therapist does not necessarily need to live in the same state as you.
For telehealth psychotherapy, what generally matters is where you are physically located at the time of your session and whether your therapist is licensed, registered, or otherwise authorized to provide psychotherapy in that jurisdiction.
For example, if you normally live in Texas but attend a session while temporarily staying in another state, tell your therapist before the appointment. Your therapist will need to determine whether they can legally provide services while you are in that location.
