Fully Licensed Clinician
Hello! I am Harmony Gong, a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping you interrupt "survival mode" and move toward a life that feels grounded and genuinely satisfying. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University and bring extensive experience in crisis de-escalation and trauma-informed care.
I view therapy as a space where trauma heals through relationship—through being met, not managed. My approach is integrative and collaborative, blending evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, AEDP, CBT, and DBT. I specialize in working with individuals who have learned to survive by staying guarded or attuned to others at the expense of themselves, often manifesting as anxiety, chronic overwhelm, or ADHD-related challenges.
As a 1.5-generation Chinese American therapist, I offer a bilingual (English/Mandarin), neurodivergence-affirming space that honors both precision and emotion. Whether you are navigating professional burnout, life transitions, or complex trauma, I am here to help you transform pain into movement and drift into momentum.

"In the safety of our work, pain begins to move, movement gathers rhythm, and momentum becomes life."
— Harmony Gong, LMHC-D, LPC
What do you tend to notice first when you meet a new client?
What stands out most to me is how many people have learned to survive by staying highly functional, emotionally contained, and attuned to others while losing touch with themselves. On the surface, life may look stable, but internally there is often exhaustion, numbness, or a quiet sense of disconnection. I’m less interested in quickly labeling symptoms and more interested in understanding the survival strategies that have helped you get through life until now.
How do you understand “trauma healing through relationship”?
To me, healing is not something we do alone or only through insight. Trauma often happens in relationships, and it also needs relationship to heal. In therapy, the goal is to create a space where you are not being managed or evaluated, but truly met. Over time, this kind of experience can help the nervous system settle and allow emotions that were once overwhelming to begin to move and integrate.
What does it mean that your work is both “experiential and holistic”?
It means we don’t only talk about problems—we also pay attention to what is happening in the present moment emotionally, physically, and relationally. Depending on what you need, we may slow down and work with emotions directly, use trauma-focused modalities like EMDR or brainspotting, or explore patterns that connect your past and present. The work is flexible, but always grounded in your lived experience.
How does your identity as a 1.5-generation Chinese American therapist influence your work?
It helps me understand the complexity of living between cultures—especially the experience of being shaped by multiple, sometimes conflicting expectations. Many clients carry internalized pressure to perform, achieve, or stay emotionally contained. I try to hold space for both cultural understanding and individual difference, without reducing anyone’s experience to a stereotype or assumption.
What do you hope clients experience in therapy with you?
I hope clients experience a space where they can stop performing and start feeling again—at a pace that feels safe. Therapy with me is often about gradually shifting from survival mode into something more alive and connected. Over time, I hope clients leave with more emotional movement, more internal freedom, and a deeper sense of being grounded in themselves.
