Recovery from trauma is possible. I offer specialized and scientifically proven therapies for adults who have experienced traumatic events including the loss of a loved one.

My Approach

I recognize that you’re going through a profound, unique experience, and you may feel quite alone. I am an expert in trauma recovery, creating a safe place for you to express your feelings honestly and openly. Whether you have experienced trauma from a specific incident, chronic trauma, or complex trauma resulting from multiple events, I am here for you. I am not going to tell you to “move on” or “get over it.” I understand that healing is as unique as each one of us and I'm here to guide you on the path that is right for you.

How You Can Benefit

I have specialized training in trauma recovery and offers care for individuals across the lifespan who have experienced trauma. Specialized therapy services are provided for adults that have been scientifically researched and proven to be effective at reducing symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). These therapies are:

  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) is a collaborative approach that teaches strategies to gradually approach trauma-related memories, feelings and situations so you can live life more fully

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that helps you identify unhelpful beliefs about the traumatic event and learn how to develop a new, more balanced way of thinking

Traumatic Grief

When the death of a loved one is sudden, unexpected, or complicated your loss may be described as traumatic grief.

While grief is often characterized as sorrow, it can also encompass many other feelings such as numbness, anger, guilt, despair, fear, and relief. Despite the fact that loss is a universal experience, the grieving process is oftentimes isolating and lonely. We wonder if we are “going crazy” and why no one seems to understand. It is helpful to know that there is no one “right” way to grieve and no specific timeline for the grieving process.

Complicated, or disenfranchised losses like suicide, accidental overdose, prenatal loss, violent deaths like homicide and prolonged illness, as well as public losses can extend the grieving process and leave us feeling “stuck.”

I will provide you with much-needed, specialized care during this process that involves confronting the loss, restructuring thoughts about the person who died and the circumstances surrounding their death, and adapting to life without your loved one.

Therapy can make a real difference in your ability to regain strength and move forward with a newfound sense of purpose an meaning following a traumatic experience.
